Educational materials and Seminar in Alor. Visit to school project in Atambua, Nusa Tenggara Timur 3 Family Care Indonesia Volunteers travel to Alor where they distribute 200 sets of STEPS Character Building Curriculum sets to preschool teachers who gathered for a mini seminar on how to use the curriculum sets in their day to day teaching as well as tips on teaching children and discussing diversity.

Cimahpar, Bogor - Extracurriculr Study House This month Esther and a part time volunteer visited Cimahpar in Bogor to distribute basic food staples to the children and parents. There were 50 children who attend this weekend extracurricular study which is conducted by a friend.

Team to Pekan Baru, Sumatera

Team to Pekan Baru, Sumatera Pierre and his daughter Nathalie visit poor schools in Pekanbaru, Sumatera. In a small single-class preschool (PAUD) provided by caring ladies in the community for children who cannot afford to pay for school, Nathalie taught the children songs and interacted with the children.

Continuation of Idul Fitri program in Ciawi and Puncak

Continuation of Idul Fitri program in Ciawi and Puncak Early this month, Family Care Indonesia volunteers Esther and her daughters Sharon and Abi, travel with Tita who lives in a village in the mountainous tea plantation of the Puncak area outside Jakarta. They visited 5 villages to share basic food staples to the elderly, widows and orphans.

Teacher Training Seminar in Pontianak, Kalimantan Angel and her two daughters, Monica and Caresse went for a week to Pontianak where the younger girls spent the week as volunteer Teacher's assistants at a local school helping with English lessons.

Atambua, Timor, NTT Family Care Indonesia volunteers Esther and Angel, along with friends, visited 3 villages near Atambua to conduct Easter activities such as coloring Easter pictures and distributing snacks and a variety of gifts like T-shirts, school backpacks, coloring pencils and few other gift surprises.

Bandung – Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI) With the help of kind friends, Family Care Indonesia volunteer, Dina, was able to see an important printing project through to completion this month. The story “Novi and the Wind” was especially written for child cancer patients to help them understand about death and passing on.

STEPS Character Building Program in West and Central Java Family Care Indonesia volunteers travel to Cirebon, West Java and then to Kuningan. We conducted a mini seminar for 26 Pre-school (PAUD) teachers and distributed a set of STEPS Character Building curriculum to each teacher.

Educational Sponsorship for Orphans in Lembang

Educational Sponsorship for Orphans in Lembang Family Care Indonesia volunteers recently visited Rumah Kasih Orphanage in Lembang to present educational sponsorships to two orphans to help toward their college education. This educational support will help cover the cost of their first year’s tuition and college textbooks. Ekari is studying at a poly-technical institute and Henny at a teachers’ college.

January 2014 Project Update

Second Trip to the Philippines

Second Trip to the Philippines Esther and Vincent return for a second time to the Philippine islands to visit Tacloban City, the most devastated area after Typhoon Haiyan. We distributed hundreds of rosary prayer beads to the victims of this predominantly Catholic city as well as 1,000 sarongs donated by friends from Indonesia.
