Manado, North Sulawesi

Manado, North Sulawesi Family Care Indonesia volunteers visit Manado and the surrounding area conducting a mini seminar for 25 principals from remote schools outside of Manado. Each principal received a copy of the STEPS Character Building Curriculum set which was sponsored by PT Dinamika Teknik Persada in BSD, Tangerang.

Special Report on Disaster Relief in the Philippines Usually Family Care Indonesia is focused on offering assistance to Indonesia however with the recent natural disaster of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines so close to us, we felt compelled to respond. Since Esther, one of our volunteers in Indonesia is from the Philippines, she decided to go and help in one of the most devastated areas, Tacloban City.

Clean-Up Day in SDN Cikoneng

Clean-Up Day in SDN Cikoneng This month Esther and friends visited SDN (Sekolah Dasar Negeri) Cikoneng, Desa Tugu Utara in Cisarua, Puncak. The school is located in the middle of the mountainous tea plantation. Our friend who invited Family Care Indonesia volunteers to visit the school also organized the day for the students and teachers to do a program of cleaning, sweeping and picking-up trash in the surrounding area of the school.

Assistance to Atambua NTT 5 Family Care Indonesia volunteers traveled to the mountainous region of Atambua on the island of Timor for one week visiting 2 villages. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors in Jakarta our team distributed vitamins and medical supplies to a local clinic in the area.

Special Report for Idul Fitri with Street children in Jakarta This month five of our volunteers, joined with "Sahabat Anak"—another group of volunteers who work with street children—visiting the area where these street children live. On the day of Idul Fitri, many of them have nowhere to go, thanks to many different sponsors we were able to prepare food packages to share with them.

Activities in Jakarta

Activities in Jakarta During the fasting month of Ramadhan, Family Care Indonesia volunteers and friends devoted time organizing and distributing packages of food staples to the elderly and those who are less fortunate. Reaching out in this manner is one of the many ways Family Care Indonesia assists people in different areas of Jakarta.

Singkawang, Kalimantan Angel and Caresse traveled to Singkawang, West Kalimantan to hold a seminar on Character building with 120 teachers from many regional schools. The teachers were so thankful for the help and each received a set of STEPS Character Building curriculum material to use with their students.

Special report on distribution of STEPS program in Timor This month our team of 3 ventured out to Timor, first to the capital, Kupang and then to the border town of Atambua. Due to generous sponsorship we distributed 100 sets of STEPS in these two areas to Preschool teachers (PAUD) and orphanages.

Aid to Cililin, West Java landslide Volunteers deliver 450 kg of rice, 50 lt. of cooking oil, 25 lt. of liquid soap and 1,000 bottles of multi-vitamins (Scott’s Emulsion) to landslide victims in Cililin, West Java were over 200 families were affected.
