Reaching Manado with Character Building Programs

Terry and Eve, Family Care Indonesiamembers, visited "Bukit Harapan", an orphanage for girls, where they had fun art activities & quiztimes with the children and gave a STEPS Character Building kit along with milk and snacks for all. The team also visited Minsel village where they performed a meaningful skit “The Garden”, played games and had fun quizzes for 130 children and distributed milk, and stationary packets to everyone!

Trainer Program in Kalimantan Timur

Family Care Indonesia member Sharon joined Provisi Education in giving a training seminar along with another Indonesian trainer to 50 PAUD teachers in the small town of Kuaru, Kalimantan Timur. Sharon gave a presentation on how to teach sight-reading at an early age as well as teaching character values to PAUD students.

This month Albert and Andre visited the province of Lampung and to continue their recent effort to aid with Indonesian schools acquiring the STEPS Character Building. These kits will be used for the school's character building curriculums.

In August for Lebaran, Family Care Indonesia member Esther visited 2 areas in Pasar Minggu, Cilincing and Pulau Sembilangan to focus on the yearly program of distributing needed food and personal items (sembako) to the widows and the elderly.

Trip to Papua

Trip to Papua

In June Family Care Indonesia members Gary and Rose made a mission trip to Papua where they conducted eight seminars in Jayapura City and Entrop and surrounding areas. Over the past 12 months they collected and shipped 24 boxes of materials for distribution to needy situations there including three computers, two laptops, English books, children’s and adults clothing, toys, bags, children’s board games and some cameras which they gave to three major institutions.

60,000 Donated School Books Distributed in Schools Throughout Indonesia

Family Care Indonesia volunteers have been distributing school books to schools across Indonesia including Atambua and Kupang on Timor Island; Ruteng, Ende and Reo, Flores Island; Palu, Sulawesi; Bogor, Marunda and Pulau, Sembilangan; Sukabumi, Cibadak and the greater Jakarta area.

Education and Food Staples Aid in Central Kalimantan

In mid-February a team of Family Care Indonesia volunteers visited the village of Tumbang Samba, a 6 hour drive from Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan. The team distributed educational material including 3 STEPS Character Building kits, which will be used to help the 200 children who live there. They went on to an orphanage for 30 children in Palangkaraya.

FCI and NICI visit Pulau Sembilangan

NICI (Nestle Indofood Citarasa Indonesia) along with Family Care Indonesia volunteers visited Pulau Sembilangan located in Bekasi Barat to paint the new school building Madrasah Aliyah. The 85 employees from the company who participated in the event were transported by 8 big boats. Rain or shine everyone is ready for an adventure with life vest, raincoats and umbrellas.
