Disaster Relief Response

Disaster Relief Response Family Care Indonesia is active in disaster-relief programs. Our efforts include securing food, clothes, medical supplies and assistance, and other necessities for disaster victims. In addition, and more importantly, Family Care Indonesia volunteers spend time interacting with the victims of major disasters, offering hope and encouragement. One of the common side effects of natural disasters is fear and trauma and children are usually the most seriously affected--especially those who have lost members of their family, friends, or their homes. These unseen wounds often take a long time to heal. Our volunteers strive to bring happiness and hope to help ease the trauma that many of the youngest victims of natural disasters often experience. One avenue we use is a fun and entertaining puppet show accompanied by a variety of upbeat songs, games and activities which focus on overcoming obstacles, staying positive, taking initiative, and appreciating differences.
