Special Report on Disaster Relief in the Philippines

Special Report on Disaster Relief in the Philippines Usually Family Care Indonesia is focused on offering assistance to Indonesia however with the recent natural disaster of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines so close to us, we felt compelled to respond. Since Esther, one of our volunteers in Indonesia is from the Philippines, she decided to go and help in one of the most devastated areas, Tacloban City.

For 10 days, Esther joined local Family Care volunteers from “The Channel of Hope Foundation” who were based in R.T. Romualdez Hospital. Our main involvement was in distributing water, food packages, thousands of mats, sheets and to offer comfort to those we met.

Volunteers in Manila continue with this effort as more volunteers are arriving from other parts of the world. Special thanks to supporters in Indonesia who made it possible for Esther to be a part of this relief team and for the contributions that were used in purchasing goods from Manila for the disaster victims.
