Story Telling Program in Bogor

Story Telling Program in Bogor Volunteers Gary, Daniel and Terry join with HOPE Foundation to do “Story Telling” for Primary School students in the Bogor area outside Jakarta.

This was a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with these children through this activity as this quote from Mark Miller explains, “Storytelling is powerful because it has the ability to touch human beings at the most personal level. While facts are viewed from the lens of a microscope, stories are viewed from the lens of the soul. Stories address us on every level. They speak to the mind, the body, the emotions, the spirit, and the will. In a story a person can identify with situations he or she has never been in. The individual’s imagination is unlocked to dream what was previously unimaginable.”

Teaching Former Street Children in Jakarta

Our dear friend and part time volunteer Greg from Taiwan offered to teach the children who study with “Sahabat Anak” Mandarin. We joined him for the first class and Greg is learning and stepping out of his comfort zone to be an inspired teacher. The children had a great time as we all learned some of the basics of the language. Thanks to regular gifts from Lotte Mart we provided each student who attended the Mandarin class with a “goodie bag”.
