November 2015 Project Update

Team to Atambua, Nusa Tenggara Timor

Team to Atambua, Nusa Tenggara Timor Family Care Indonesia volunteers Daniel and Esther together with 3 friends visited Atambua for one week. Since this is predominantly a Catholic area we had one of the nuns travel with us. We visited 4 schools in the Atambua area and 3 schools in the mountain villages about 2 hours from Atambua by off road vehicle. In the schools we distributed donated stationary supplies with snacks to each child and interacted with the children through songs and dancing together. We also distributed toiletries and clothing to the adults.

The children and teachers were very happy to receive assistance and attention from outside their area. Altogether we distributed these packages to over 2,000 children.

Helping Children with Cancer in Bandung

Helping Children with Cancer in Bandung Family Care Indonesia volunteer, Dina, visits the Cancer Kids Foundation (Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker) in Bandung on a regular basis. She involves the children in play and art therapy. She is also concerned to improve the educational standard of the in-house tutoring program (Sekolah-ku) that the Foundation offers free of charge. With the generous help of concerned friends, this new computer table was recently purchased to upgrade the schooling area.
