Special report on distribution of STEPS program in Timor

Special report on distribution of STEPS program in Timor This month our team of 3 ventured out to Timor, first to the capital, Kupang and then to the border town of Atambua. Due to generous sponsorship we distributed 100 sets of STEPS in these two areas to Preschool teachers (PAUD) and orphanages. For those of you who are unaware STEPS is a character building curriculum set. This set includes 20 course subjects, with a booklet on each one featuring stories, illustrations, questions and activities, a teacher’s handbook with active learning activities, just-for-fun games, and a sing-along CD and an award certificate is included with each set. Upon arriving in Kupang our team started by conducting a seminar for 50 preschool teachers who gathered for this occasion, we gave simple instruction and tips on how to use the STEPS program. We then awarded each teacher that attended a copy of STEPS.

We conducted a similar seminar in Atambua and once again awarded each teacher with their own copy of STEPS. We also gave 18 bicycles that were donated by “United Bicycle” in Jakarta as well as 5 computers from a sponsor in Singapore. While in Atambua we visited a local prison and gave more than 230 prisoners a copy of the inspirational magazine “Activated”. Our team also visited some local preschools and took time interact with the children and teachers. We would like to express special appreciation to all those who contributed to make this project possible.
