STEPS Character building Program in West and Central Java
Family Care Indonesia volunteers travel to Cirebon, West Java and then to Kuningan. We conducted a mini seminar for 26 Pre-school (PAUD) teachers and distributed a set of
STEPS Character Building curriculum to each teacher.
Special appreciation to Pak Kusan in Cigugur, Kuningan who helped us to get in communication with the
HIMPAUDI (Himpunan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan Anak Usia Dini Indonesia) and organize a teachers meeting.
After Cirebon we continued our journey to the area of Jogjakarta, Central Java in a small village called Boro. Our dear friends, Pak Hartono and his wife Wita manage a
“Back to Nature” Education center called
“Dolan Deso”.
They are helping us to contact very remote Pre-school (PAUD) teachers in the surrounding area and invite them to the center where they can receive a copy of the
STEPS Character Building curriculum and instruction on how to use the program. These copies are distributed individually to teachers as they come to the center.
Thanks to those who sponsor the
STEPS Character Building curriculum and made it possible for us to distribute 60 sets to this area.
STEPS Character Building Program in Jakarta
Family Care Indonesia volunteers Pierre and Andre visited the
Tumbuh Kindergarten (TK Tumbuh) in Jakarta. It is under
Kharisel Foundation (Yayasan Kharisel), which provides free and or heavily discounted education tuition to street children and children from impoverished families.
We delivered a sponsored
STEPS Character Building Kit to the Principal, Mr. Togu Tampubolon.
School Backpack Distribution in Jakarta

Esther,
Family Care Indonesia Volunteer received 500 backpacks from Yayasan Harapan Baru. We distributed our first amount of backpacks to primary students in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
Visit to Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker in Bandung

75 gift packages were distributed at the Hospital Hasan Sadikin and
Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker center by
Family Care Indonesia volunteer, Dina, and friends on February 15, International Child Cancer Day.
The bags contained books, toys and toiletry items to encourage the young cancer patients during their hospital stay. Volunteers went bed to bed in the oncology ward of the government hospital giving out the bags and cheering up the children.
Many thanks to our kind friends whose generous donations made this memorable event possible.
Visit to Pontianak, West Kalimantan

Albert and Monica visited Pontianak to deliver books to various schools and families. We went to the Santa Monika girl’s orphanage and spent some special time with the children.
We also distributed educational books and needed supplies of food and clothing.
Special thanks to Green Eagle Company who donated extra food and clothing which we sent as a follow up to our last visit to the victims of the
Mount Kelud volcano eruption. The dear people who had lost their livelihood were very thankful for the extra help to get started again.
Also thank you to those who continue to help with food items which we passed on to those who lost so much in the
Kampung Melayu area during the recent floods in Jakarta.
