July 2013 Project Update

Activities in Jakarta

Activities in Jakarta During the fasting month of Ramadhan, Family Care Indonesia volunteers and friends devoted time organizing and distributing packages of food staples to the elderly and those who are less fortunate. Reaching out in this manner is one of the many ways Family Care Indonesia assists people in different areas of Jakarta. Our yearly food distribution program has been possible through the support of businesses in the community who want to share the spirit of Ramadhan. We want to thank the management of PT. Metro for entrusting us with the food packages to distribute to hundreds of families in Jakarta

Cipayung, Jakarta

Cipayung, Jakarta Here is a report directly from Family Care Indonesia volunteers Pierre & Andre: “We visited Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 1, an Old Folks home and care center in Cipayung, Jakarta. We discovered that many of the widows do not have any relatives who visit them, so we took some time to talk with and encourage them personally. We also gave them some good quality women’s clothing, perfect timing with Idul Fitri coming soon.” Special thanks to all our friends who made this event possible!

Grogol, Jakarta

Grogol, Jakarta Grogol, Jakarta Family Care Indonesia volunteers visited the preschool of “Sahabat Anak” in Grogol, Jakarta to interact with the children through games and gave each student drinks and crayons. BSD Tangerang

BSD Tangerang BSD Tangerang Volunteers conducted a short seminar with “Hope Asia Foundation” in BSD Tangerang on the topic of “Self Confidence”. All of the participants were women from Mimika, Papua.

Trip to Bangka

Trip to Bangka This Month Albert and Richard went to Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Island and visited many needy schools and orphanages and distributed sets of the STEPS Character Building curriculum set for the schools to use. The teachers and children were so happy to have them visit. While there they also gave several inspirational talks and visited the sick in one local village. This is a picture of Albert and Richard with some of the children from Ruth Orphanage who were very thankful for the extra time and encouragement as one of their teachers had just recently passed on in a motorcycle accident just in front of the orphanage. They said, “Thank you for showing us the concern it really helps to lift the weight which has been hanging over us.”
