Education and Food Staples Aid in Central Kalimantan

In mid-February a team of Family Care Indonesia volunteers visited the village of Tumbang Samba, a 6 hour drive from Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan. The team distributed educational material including 3 STEPS Character Building kits, which will be used to help the 200 children who live there. They went on to an orphanage for 30 children in Palangkaraya. When the team arrived they were down to their last 20 kilograms of rice. The team donated 250 kilos of rice, eggs, and noodles to the orphanage, in addition to a set of Treasure Attic character building videos.

The next day the team was invited to give an English class to officials of the Department of Forestry to help in their preparation for receiving an International delegation.

Family Care Indonesia members Terry, Eve, Nicky and others had a fun interactive program of games, songs and arts and crafts project with the children at the Balinese orphanage "Panti Asuhan Wisma Anak-Anak Harapan".

The children also enjoy yummy milk and snacks!

At the Balinese "Samaritania" School, that teaches the children of garbage dump workers, the team of Family Care Indonesia volunteers had a flannel-graph story and taught an English song along with having some yummy fruit ices!!

They also gave the school a specially designed STEPS Character Building kit for the children's value classes.

Family Care Indonesia volunteers have been teaching short, dynamic and very interactive English conversation classes to 9 young adult at Rumah Kasih Orphanage as part of a career training program with good results among the students.

 

 

 
 


Holisticare

Holisticare

Family Care Indonesia has been helping the community in Cilincing, Tanjung Priok for many years thru the Sister Puteri Kasih. In October 2011, Family Care Indonesia along with a company representatives from Holisticare, visited Cilincing in Tanjung Priok to survey a location for the company’s yearly community social event.

In January 21, 2012, Holisticare's team of 50 people: Doctors, Staff and Management from around Indonesia gathered in the Poncol area to provide medical check-ups, consultation, medication, and basic daily food subsidy to a total of 1,000 families.

Family Care Indonesia volunteer Esther and a friend joined to support the project with manpower for the event distribution work.


Jakarta Projects

Jakarta Projects

This month the directors of a Korean company which is starting a business in Indonesia joined us in setting up programs for those in need in the Jakarta area.

Family Care Indonesia volunteer Mrs. Angel Ross along with Mrs. Euna set up programs where the visitors did activities with the children at Pondok Damai Orphanage in Pondok Gede area and Mama Sayang Orphanage in Cileungsi.

After time with the children they donated 100 Kg of rice, and other food plus cleaning supplies, fans, rice cookers and water coolers to both institutions.

Next they went to South Jakarta where they distributed around 300 bags of items including stationary and food to many needy children and families.

Family Care Indonesia volunteers Nicolas and Angel continued their support for orphanages Desa Putra in Lenteng Agung and Pondok Damai in Pondok Gede by providing the orphanages with food supplies.
