Visit to Nusa Tenggara Timur

Visit to Nusa Tenggara Timur Esther and a friend Marianna travel to Atambua, NTT to initiate a scholarship program for 100 children. The scholarship was provided by Marianna’s friend in Bogor.

Esther also visited 3 primary schools in the mountains bordering Timor Leste and distributed 300 packs of school stationary and 220 pairs of school shoes to the children.

 


Old Folks Home in South Jakarta

Volunteers visit an Old Folks Home to bring Christmas cheer to residents through songs and deliver donated toiletries and snacks from LotteMart.

Visit with Street Children at Yayasan Sahabat Anak in Grogol and Children with Cancer at Yayasan Anyo Indonesia in Jakarta Visit with Street Children at Yayasan Sahabat Anak in Grogol and Children with Cancer at Yayasan Anyo Indonesia in Jakarta Thanks to generous sponsors we brought gifts and had lunch with healthy juice from Mama Ross together with the children from Sahabat Anak in Grogol. We sang songs together and enjoyed fun activities. Then it was off to visit the children with cancer at YAI (Yayasan Anyo Indonesia)

Activity at PAZKI Foundation for Street Children Many of the girls showed an interest in learning how to teach young preschool children. So Sharon invited Asrilla a friend who is a psychologist and regularly gives training to parents of preschool children.

She gave them many good ideas on how to keep young children’s attention and teach through play. Then Sharon taught the girls how to teach young children to read using flash cards and how to make a simple reader.

Fun at Preschool Cempaka in Jagakarsa, Jakarta During a regular visit to our neighborhood preschool, Sharon read a story about keeping our environment beautiful from our STEPS Character Building Curriculum.

She also added a PowerPoint slide show with bold words at the top which the children could read while watching the slides of beautiful pictures from nature. We had discussion questions about how to keep their homes and surrounding neighborhoods free of garbage. We continued with a fun activity page from the STEPS books.

Nickolas and Martin traveled to the island of Sumba where they visited orphanages and delivered donated clothing, shoes and LED light bulbs. While in the area they also visited preschools to deliver sponsored sets of the STEPS Character Building Curriculum.
